Please note: because reclaimed wax is inherently variable, each candle may differ slightly from the image shown in colour and natural marbling. These subtle variations are part of the beauty of the process and make every piece unique.

Prefer a more uniform finish? Select white wax (paraffin) from the menu. For a pure, perfect white, choose coconut wax.

The Giotto tower candle

A limited-edition architectural candle inspired by Giotto’s Bell Tower, one of Florence’s most iconic landmarks. Handmade in Tuscany and hand-poured in Florence, it transforms the vertical elegance of the city’s historic skyline into a sculptural object for interiors.

Designed by Lume and made by the social workshop Il Candelaio using reclaimed church wax from Florence, each candle is a contemporary design piece shaped by craftsmanship, local production, and social value. Its slender proportions and graphic presence make it ideal as a decorative candle, a refined souvenir from Florence, or a meaningful gift for lovers of design, architecture, and Italy.

Why it is unique

The Giotto’s Bell Tower Candle comes from an exclusive Lume mould, designed in Florence, developed in 3D in Carrara, and moulded in Sesto Fiorentino. Every step of the process remains in Tuscany, creating a product that is local, traceable, and entirely handmade.

Because it is made with reclaimed wax, each candle may show slight variations in tone and surface. These differences are part of its material character and make every piece one of a kind.

Wax options

Please note: because reclaimed wax is never exactly the same, each candle may vary slightly from the image shown in colour and natural marbling. These subtle differences are part of the beauty of the process and make every piece unique. Prefer a more uniform finish? Select white wax (paraffin) from the menu. Prefer a perfect white? Select coconut wax from the menu.

A Florence candle with architectural presence

More than a candle, this piece is a contemporary interpretation of one of Florence’s most recognisable monuments. Its vertical form and compact footprint make it perfect for consoles, shelves, desks, and curated interiors that bring together history, design, and material depth.

A symbol of Florence’s architectural identity, reimagined in wax, it offers a more thoughtful alternative to the usual souvenir — an object that carries place, craftsmanship, and memory into everyday space.

Social impact & responsibility

Lume Candles Firenze collaborates with Il Candelaio, an artisan solidarity workshop in Florence.

Here, people who have been pushed to the margins – often homeless or socially excluded – find a space for work, dignity and community.

Choosing this candle means supporting:

  • handcrafted production instead of mass manufacturing,

  • a local social project in Florence,

  • the upcycling of recovered wax that would otherwise be discarded.

The tone is premium and understated: no exaggerated claims, just transparent, traceable impact.

How to use & styling ideas

  • Place the candle on a heat-resistant base (ceramic, metal, glass).

  • Use it as a vertical accent on a shelf, bedside table or console.

  • Combine it with the Brunelleschi Dome Candle or other Lume pieces to create a miniature Florentine skyline.

  • Ideal as:

    • a gift for Florence lovers and architecture enthusiasts,

    • a refined souvenir from Firenze,

    • a corporate gift for design-conscious companies and studios.

Safety instructions

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Keep away from children and pets.

  • Place on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.

  • Keep away from drafts, curtains, paper and flammable materials.

  • Leave at least 10 cm between burning candles.

  • Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each use.

  • Do not move the candle while the wax is liquid or still hot.

  • Do not expose the candle to direct sunlight or strong heat sources: the shape may soften or deform and it may stain the surface on which it rests.
